Bucyrus Fire Department

The Bucyrus Fire Department is housed at the "Central Station" on East Mansfield St., and currently consists of 16 members, including Fire Chief Jay Keller.  They responded to 730 incidents in 2005, including 21 reported building fires.  This doesn't include vehicle fires, alarm drops, assistance calls for EMS, etc.  They also participate in fire education & safety in the community by offering the Juvenile Fire Setters program.  They also organize an annual fire and burn prevention education program.  Other services performed include fire safety talks, tours of the station, extinguisher demonstrations, etc.
In June of 2005 the department received their long awaited 100 ft. Hook & Ladder truck, which was funded by the soon expiring fire levy, and carried a pricetag of $809,947.00
Also in the departments' arsenal are three pumpers, a Hazmat trailer, two inflatable boats, a rescue ambulance and other goodies.
Their expenses in 2005 totalled $1,080,947.42.
