Medical transport for Bucyrus & Crawford County!

DSC02357.JPG

The City of Bucyrus and the Townships of Crawford County are members of the Central Joint Ambulance District.  Currently this service is being provided by Lifestar Ambulance at a ZERO subsidy to the residents of the district.  In addition to this, Bucyrus is fortunate enough to also have Medcorp Ambulance with units stationed in the city as well.  Both are Advanced Life Support providers.  Also serving the needs of the public are the personnel of the Bucyrus Fire Department!
The Central Joint Ambulance District generally has monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of the month @7:00 P.M November through March, and 8:00 P.M. April through October.  These meetings are held at 606 North Sandusky Avenue in Bucyrus.

Crawford County residents are fortunate in having several well equipped and trained volunteer fire departments. Links will be added below as they are requested!

I personally believe that the Central Joint Ambulance District has been great for the residents of Bucyrus, as well as the townships.  I only have one concern with this service as provided.  When someone in need calls "911", it is my understanding that Lifestar (being the contracted EMS provider, and staffed exclusively with Advanced Life Support trained personnel) is initially dispatched.  Should Lifestars' mobile units be unavailable at that time, the next call goes to the Bucyrus Fire Department (who is staffed primarily with Basic Life Support employees), and not Medcorps (who is, like Lifestar, staffed exclusively with Advanced Life Support personnel, and also located within the city limits of Bucyrus).  Patient care is primary here folks - not politics...If this information is incorrect, please call me at (419)562-3455. Thanks!
